Mike Authers was brought up in Abingdon and vividly remembers as a small child watching new MG Midgets being put through their road tests. Also seeing the export models being driven through the town to the railway station and loaded onto the waiting trains bound for the docks.
The Abingdon factory assembled MG’s from 1929 to its closure in 1979 plus Austin Healeys and a few other BMC marques. Although too young to work at the factory Mike did belong to the MG factory sports club.
Mike trained to be a chartered accountant in Abingdon but his love of cars finally took over and in 1982 he gave up this reliable and prosperous profession to concentrate on restoring and selling MG sports cars.
Over the last few years Mike has concentrated solely on MkI, II and III MG Midgets and Sprites.
