1957 Austin Healey 100/6 upgraded to competition spec 3000

Original price was: £48,500.Current price is: £40,000.

Description

Healey 100/6 uprated to 3000 specification, with alloy comp head, triple SU’s, centre change competition box with O/D, dual circuit brakes, new Avon ZZ tyres, hard and soft tops etc, etc.

The car was fully restored to 3000 ‘fast road’ spec by Simom Leeming in 2012. We bought it from him in 2020. It needed some upgrading to be competitive in the HealeySport championship, and Joe Moffat did most of this for us:

Engine was removed, completely stripped, cleaned and rebuilt using new crankshaft, bearings, seals etc. It has a lightweight aluminium head sporting triple SU carbs, Cosworth pistons, aluminium oil sump, side exit rally exhaust, lightweight Wosp starter motor and electronic ignition..
The original side change gearbox was switched last year for a centre change competition unit (Tulip), with competition uprated ‘A’ type overdrive supplied new by Hardy Engineering at a cost of £4800. 4.3 LSD
Brakes have been upgraded with new Dennis Welch dual circuit pedal box, master cylinder, and competition servo. Mintex brake pads.
Lightweight Tillett racing seat and harness. Lifeline 4 litre plumbed-in fire extinguisher system..
Good hardtop with side windows, plus a new bespoke fabric hood, utilising the original hood frame to fit over the competition safety roll bar, plus protective new tonneau cover.
The car goes, stops and handles really well. For road use it’s a bit noisy because of the straight cut gears and side (competition) exhaust. Paintwork is good but not perfect.
